St. Stephens is found in the northern part of Catawba County. It shares its borders with a few other places. To the west, you'll find the city of Hickory. To the south, it borders the city of Conover.
North of St. Stephens is Alexander County. Lake Hickory, which is part of the Catawba River, separates St. Stephens from Alexander County.
