St. Augustine's Church was a Church of England church. It was located on Whitchurch Lane in Whitchurch, a part of Bristol, England. This church served the local community for many years.

The Church's Story
Building the First Church
The first St. Augustine's Church was built in 1972. It was needed because the area of Whitchurch in south Bristol, England, was growing. More people meant more families, and they needed a place to worship.
Why the First Church Closed
The original St. Augustine's Church had many problems from when it was first built. For example, its bell tower was not safe. It had to be removed in the 1980s.
Later, rain started leaking through the roof. This happened after some lead was stolen from the roof. Because of these issues, the church building became unsafe. In 2004, the city council allowed the church to be taken down. The building was officially closed in 2007 because it was no longer safe to use.
A New Beginning
Building the New Church
After the old church closed, the people who attended St. Augustine's hoped to build a new one. They wanted to raise about £50,000 themselves. The total cost for the new church was estimated to be £350,000.
While they were planning, Canon Nicholas Hay was chosen to be the caretaker minister. This meant he looked after the church community during the rebuilding process. Construction work on the brand new church was finished in 2016.
New Leadership for the Church
In 2021, Reverend Sam Sheppard was appointed as the new priest. He became responsible for leading the team at the new St. Augustine's Church in Whitchurch. He also leads Christ Church in Hengrove.
