A Look at Its History

St Catherine's Church has a long history, going all the way back to the Middle Ages. Even though the church has been around for a very long time, the oldest part you see today is the west tower. This tower was built in 1811 by a person named Lord Bulkeley.

Building Through the Years

The main parts of the church, like the nave (where people sit), the chancel (the area near the altar), the porch, and the spire on top of the tower, were all built in 1845. Architects from Sheffield designed these sections. Later, in 1890, an organ chamber was added. This part was designed by Henry Kennedy, an architect from Bangor. The church was officially named a Grade II-listed building on February 20, 1978, recognizing its historical and architectural importance.
