The Church of St Catherine is an old and beautiful church located in Drayton, Somerset, England. It was built a very long time ago, in the 15th century. This church is considered a very important historical building. It has a special status called a Grade I listed building. This means it's protected because of its unique history and architecture.

History and Design

The outside of St Catherine's Church is made from two special kinds of stone. These are blue lias and golden hamstone. The church was carefully repaired and updated in 1855. This work was done by Maurice Davis from Langport. It was repaired again later in 1896. These repairs are often called "Victorian restorations."

In the churchyard, there is a stone cross from the 15th century. This cross has a sculpture of St Michael. He is shown with a sword and shield. The sculpture shows him defeating a dragon.

In 2002, there were plans to put a new floor in the church tower. Some people who attended the church did not agree with these plans. The issue was eventually settled by a special church court.

The old house where the church's priest used to live is called Drayton Court. This house was built in the early 1800s. Today, it is a private home. The church is part of a larger group of churches. This group is called the Langport Area Team Ministry. It belongs to the Ivelchester area of churches.
