St James' Church is a parish church in the Church of England. It is located in Aston, Birmingham, England.
History of St James' Church
St James' Church started in 1891. It was a 'mission church' from another church nearby. A new building was built in 1906. The architect for this building was J.A. Chatwin.
Charles Gore, who was the Bishop of Birmingham, officially opened the church. This special event happened on November 2, 1906.
The church built in 1906 was later taken down. A completely new church was built in 1981. This new design was created by architect G Winteringham. Sadly, this building was damaged by a fire in 2001. But don't worry, it was fixed and reopened for everyone to use again.
About the Organ
The 1906 church had a large pipe organ. It was made by a company called Conacher of Sheffield. This organ had three keyboards, called manuals. You can find details about it on the National Pipe Organ Register. However, this organ is no longer in the church today.
