A Look Back at St John's Church

St John's Church was built a long time ago, in 1850. It opened its doors on December 27, 1850. The church was designed in a style called Neo-Gothic. This means it looked like old churches from the Middle Ages.

In 1851, the church was consecrated. This is a special ceremony that makes a building officially a church. Later, in January 1996, St John's joined with two other churches. These were St Serf's Church, Shettleston and St Kentigern's, Dennistoun. Together, they formed a bigger group called the East End Ministry.
