History of St Mark's Church
St Mark's Church has an interesting past. It was first built in 1849, but not as a church! It was originally part of a school designed to teach about 200 students.
From School to Mission
For many years, the building served as a school. Later, in 1924, it changed its purpose. It became known as 'The Mission'. This was a place where people could gather for religious activities.
Becoming St Mark's Church
The building continued as 'The Mission' for several decades. Then, in 1970, it officially became known by its current name: St Mark's Church. Even though it's a church, it's not "consecrated." This means it hasn't had a special ceremony to make it officially holy ground. However, it can still comfortably fit about 80 people for services.
