St Michael's Church is an old Anglican church located in the small village of Churchill, in Worcestershire, England. It is a very special building. It is listed as a Grade II* historic site, which means it is important and protected. Today, the Churches Conservation Trust takes care of it. This means it is no longer used for regular church services. Instead, it is kept safe for everyone to visit and learn about its history.

A Journey Through Time

The church was first built a long time ago, in the 14th century (the 1300s). It even has some old stone pieces from an earlier church. That older church once stood on the very same spot.

The church has been repaired and updated many times. One big restoration happened in 1863. Another important restoration took place in 1910.

In 1924, the church joined with the parish of White Ladies Aston. St Michael's Church then became a "Chapel of Ease." This meant it was a smaller church that helped out the main parish church.

The building was made more modern in 1955. That's when electricity was installed inside. By the 1990s, the church needed a lot of repairs. The small village could not afford these big costs. So, in April 1999, the church was given to the Churches Conservation Trust. They now look after it.

What the Church Looks Like

St Michael's Church has a simple design. It has a main area called the nave. There is also a south porch, which is a small covered entrance. At the west end of the church, you can see a bellcote. This is a small tower that holds the church bells. Each side wall of the nave has one window.

Inside the church, you can find many old items. The font, where baptisms take place, is from the 15th century. The pulpit, where sermons are given, dates back to the 17th century. The communion rail, which separates the altar area, is in a style called Jacobean.

Some parts of the church were moved from other places. The chancel screen and the lectern (a stand for reading) came from Great Malvern Priory. These were moved during the 1910 restoration. The oldest memorial inside the church is from 1688. There are two bells in the bellcote. One of these bells is very old, dating from the 15th century.
