Building History: How St Ninian's Was Built
The land for St Ninian's Church was given by Sir John Maxwell. The first stone of the church was placed in 1872. This marked the beginning of its construction.
Architectural Style and Design
The church was designed by an architect named David Thomson. He planned the church in the Neo-Gothic style. This style looks back to the grand churches of the Middle Ages. The main building was finished in 1877. Later, in 1887, an extension was added to the west side.
