St Paul's, Onslow Square, also known as HTB Onslow Square, is a historic Anglican church in Onslow Square, South Kensington, London, England. It is a Grade II listed building, meaning it is an important historical structure. The church was built in 1860. The famous architect James Edmeston designed it.

History of St Paul's Church

Early Years and Key Figures

St Paul's Church opened its doors in 1860. It quickly became a significant place for worship in London. In 1868, William Carter, a talented composer, became the church's organist. An important religious leader, Hanmer William Webb-Peploe, served as the vicar for a long time. He was the vicar for 43 years, from 1876 to 1919. He was known for his strong evangelical beliefs.

Joining with Holy Trinity Brompton

In the late 1970s, St Paul's Church joined with a nearby church, Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB). At one point, St Paul's was declared "redundant." This meant it was no longer needed for regular church services. The Diocese of London tried to sell the building for new homes. However, local people and church members worked together to save it. They stopped the sale in the early 1980s.

Reopening and New Beginnings

In the late 1980s, the church council asked for the "redundant" status to be removed. This allowed a new group to start meeting there. Curate Nicky Lee and his wife Sila helped to "plant" a new congregation. They also worked on fixing up the church building.

In 1997, the group at St Paul's split into three smaller groups. Some people went to start a new church in Fulham. Others returned to HTB with Nicky and Sila Lee. A third group stayed at St Paul's, forming the St Paul's Anglican Fellowship. This last group later moved to St Mary's, Bryanston Square in 2002.

Modern Revival and Services

In 2007, HTB decided to renovate St Paul's Church. They wanted to start holding services there again. They launched new services in September 2007. More services were added in January 2008 and September 2009. In December 2009, the upstairs balcony was opened for worship again. It had been used as office space before. The offices moved to a new building HTB bought in 2008.

Current Services

St Paul's Church holds regular services every Sunday. You can attend services at 10:30 AM, 4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM.
