Stacer is a small, quiet place in Indiana, a state in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Scott Township in Vanderburgh County.
History of Stacer
Before it was called Stacer, this community had another name: Nash Depot. Imagine a time when sending letters and packages was a big deal!
Early Mail Service
A place to send and receive mail, called a post office, first opened here in 1854. It was known as the Nash Depot post office. This was a very important spot for people living nearby to connect with others. However, this first post office closed down in 1875.
Becoming Stacer
Years later, in 1892, a new post office opened in the same area. This time, it was given the name Stacer. The community itself was named after an early settler, a person who came to live there a long time ago, named Frederick Stacer. The Stacer post office served the community for many years until it finally closed its doors in 1920.
