Stacy Spikes started the Urbanworld Film Festival in 1997. This festival celebrates films and stories from diverse creators. It especially supports women and people of color in the film industry.

The festival is held every year in New York City. In 2021, it celebrated its 25th anniversary.

MoviePass: The First Launch

In February 2011, Stacy Spikes launched MoviePass with his co-founder, Hamet Watt. MoviePass was a service that let people watch movies in theaters for a monthly fee.

In October 2012, the company introduced a new way of doing business. They used special technology to process payments based on where people were. Famous actor Robert De Niro was an early supporter of MoviePass.
