Stahl is a small, quiet place in northwest Adair County, Missouri, United States. It's not a big city or town. Instead, it's called an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government. It's just a small group of homes in the countryside.
Where is Stahl Located?
Stahl is found in Adair County, Missouri. You can reach it by following Missouri Route O. It's about six miles northwest of a town called Novinger. It's also about 12 miles northwest of the larger city of Kirksville. Today, only three houses stand in Stahl. There's also an old car dump along the highway.
Nearby, you'll find some interesting natural spots. The Union Ridge Conservation Area is about two miles to the west. A stream called Spring Creek flows right past Stahl. It eventually joins the Chariton River, south of Novinger.
The Story of Stahl
Stahl was founded a long time ago, in 1882. A person named S. F. Stahl created the community. It was named after him. In the same year, a post office opened in Stahl. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years. However, it finally closed down in 1949.
