Stalley's Music Journey
Stalley began his music career in 2008. His first mixtape was called Goin Ape, which he made with Terry Urban. The next year, in 2009, he released another mixtape titled MadStalley: The Autobiography. This helped him become known as a strong performer on stage. In 2010, Stalley was even a special guest MC at the Iron Mic Competition in Beijing, China.
Joining Maybach Music Group (2011–2017)
In 2011, Stalley signed a deal with Rick Ross's record label, Maybach Music Group (MMG). This was a big step in his career. He worked with famous producers like Ski Beatz on songs such as "Address" and "S.T.A.L.L.E.Y.".
Stalley also appeared on other artists' albums. He was featured on Curren$y's album Pilot Talk in 2010. He also worked on Ski Beatz's projects, 24 Hour Karate School and 24 Hour Karate School, Pt. 2.
In February 2011, Stalley created music for ESPN to use in their TV shows and online content. His mixtape Lincoln Way Nights, released in February 2011, was very popular. It was downloaded over 130,000 times and was a top hip hop release on Bandcamp. Later that year, a version of Lincoln Way Nights sold over 4,000 copies and reached number 18 on the iTunes hip hop charts.
Stalley was also part of MMG's group albums, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. He also appeared on Rick Ross's mixtape Rich Forever and his album God Forgives, I Don't.
His mixtape Savage Journey To The American Dream, released in March 2012, was downloaded 100,000 times in its first week. It received great reviews from music magazines like Stereogum and Spin. The mixtape was mostly produced by Block Beattaz.
In 2013, Stalley released his single "Swangin" featuring Scarface. The music video for "Swangin" came out in July 2013 and even featured Paul Wall. His mixtape was nominated for "Best Mixtape" at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards. After this success, he released Honest Cowboy: EP to iTunes in September 2013.
On August 22, 2014, Stalley announced his first official album, Ohio. It was released on October 27, 2014. Almost a year later, in August 2015, he released a seven-song mixtape called The Laughing Introvert. In January 2016, his seventh mixtape, Saving Yusuf, was released.
Becoming an Independent Artist (2017–Present)
In 2017, Stalley decided to become an independent artist. This means he started releasing music without a major record label. He released his second and third albums, New Wave and Another Level, through Real Talk Entertainment.
After becoming independent, Stalley released the EP Tell The Truth: Shame the Devil in late 2017. This was the first part of a three-part series, with the other two parts released in 2018.
On November 1, 2019, Stalley released an album called Reflection Of Self: The Head Trip. This album was entirely produced by Jansport J and released through Stalley's own company, Blue Collar Gang.
Stalley also announced a new project called Blacklight. This album is entirely produced by Apollo Brown and will be released on the independent Mello Music Group label. It is set to come out on November 19, 2021, and will feature artists like Joell Ortiz and Skyzoo.
