Stambaugh Township is a community in Iron County, Michigan. It is located in the United States. In 2010, about 1,140 people lived there. By 2020, the population grew slightly to 1,200 people.

Stambaugh Township covers a total area of about 190.1 square miles (492.3 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 181.8 square miles (470.8 square kilometers). The rest, about 8.3 square miles (21.5 square kilometers), is water. The township is right next to the border between Michigan and Wisconsin.
Lakes and Waterways
Stambaugh Township is home to many beautiful lakes. In the southern and eastern parts, you can find Chicagon Lake, Hagerman Lake, Lake Ottawa, and Brule Lake. If you travel to the west, you will discover Smoky Lake, Golden Lake, and Tamarack Lake. These lakes are great for outdoor activities.

Communities within Stambaugh Township
Several smaller communities are located within Stambaugh Township.
- Stambaugh was once a separate city next to the township. In 2000, it joined with the city of Iron River. The land for the old city of Stambaugh originally came from the township.
- Caspian is a city found within the township. However, it manages its own affairs and is not directly controlled by the township government.
- Gaastra is another city within the township. Like Caspian, it also has its own independent administration.
- Elmwood, also known as Elmwood Siding, is a small, unincorporated community. This means it is not a city or town with its own government. In 1887, it was a train station called "Paint River". It was named after a nearby stream. A post office opened there in 1887. The station's name changed to Elmwood by 1898.
