Stanhope, Ohio facts for kids
Stanhope is a small place in Ohio, a state in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own local government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. Stanhope is located across two counties: Ashtabula County and Trumbull County.
The Story of Stanhope
Stanhope has a short but interesting history. It was named after a person known as Captain Stanhope. We don't know much more about him, but his name lives on in this community.
Early Days and the Post Office
In 1891, a post office was opened in Stanhope. This was an important event for the community. A post office allowed people to send and receive letters and packages. It connected Stanhope to the rest of the world. However, the post office did not stay open for long. It closed just two years later, in 1893.
