Years ago, Stanley's school was part of the Santa Fe School District. In 1962, about 150 students went to the school in Stanley. That same year, the school board decided to move Stanley's school to the Moriarty Municipal Schools district. The main reasons for this change were that the Stanley school was very close to a Moriarty school, the building was old and not in good shape, and it wasn't meeting the learning goals set by the state government of New Mexico.
