Starks is a small community in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means the U.S. Census Bureau counts its population separately.
Starks is located about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Lake Charles. It's also very close to the border between Louisiana and Texas. This community is famous for its yearly Mayhaw Festival. This festival celebrates the mayhaw fruit, which grows in the swampy areas (bayous) near the Texas-Louisiana border.
