Staunton is a small place in Fayette County, Ohio, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
A Look Back: Staunton's History
Staunton was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1848. This process is called "platting." The people who first settled here named the community after Staunton, Virginia. Many of these early settlers came from that city.
A post office was opened in Staunton in 1844. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years before it closed in 1903.
