Stefani Robinson is an American writer and producer for TV shows and movies. She is well-known for her work on the TV series Atlanta and What We Do in the Shadows. For Atlanta, she won two Writers Guild of America Awards. She also received nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for her writing and for Outstanding Comedy Series for What We Do in the Shadows. Stefani also wrote the movie Chevalier, which came out in 2023.

Early Life and School

Stefani Robinson was born in Hong Kong. When she was 8 years old, her family moved to Marietta, Georgia, a town near Atlanta.

When she was in high school, Stefani loved watching a show called The Mighty Boosh on YouTube. She says this show really helped her find her own unique way of writing. Other big influences for her include the movie Willy Wonka, the spy comedy Austin Powers, and Baz Luhrmann’s movie Romeo + Juliet.

When she was about 15 or 16, Stefani started taking classes at The Second City Training Center in Hollywood. There, she performed funny skits as part of a group for live audiences. Later, she went to Emerson College to study screenwriting, which is the art of writing scripts for movies and TV shows.

Becoming a Writer and Producer

Stefani Robinson started her career working as an assistant at a company that helps actors and writers find jobs. She sent one of her scripts to the TV network FX. They liked it so much that they hired her to write for their new show, Atlanta. In the writers' room for Atlanta, Stefani was the only woman and the youngest person on the team.

People have praised her writing for being very good. Stefani believes that her writing should show her own unique ideas as an individual, rather than just being seen as a "female" or "racial" perspective. She was even nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for an episode of Atlanta called "Barbershop".

In 2017, Stefani signed a special deal with FX to produce shows. She has written for several other shows on the network, including Man Seeking Woman and Fargo. She also worked as a co-executive producer and writer for the popular vampire comedy show What We Do in the Shadows. She left that show in 2020. During her time there, she received more Primetime Emmy Award nominations for episodes like "On the Run" and "The Wellness Center".

Stefani's first full-length movie, Chevalier, came out in 2022. It's a true story about a famous musician named Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The movie was directed by Stephen Williams and starred Kelvin Harrison Jr..
