Stella Martin Manyanya, born on August 4, 1962, is a politician from Tanzania. She is a member of the CCM political party. Since 2010, she has served as a Member of Parliament for the Nyasa area. In October 2017, she became a Deputy Minister for Industries, Trade, and Investment.
Early Life and Education
Stella Martin Manyanya started her schooling at Nambingi Primary School in 1969. She then moved to Maguu Primary School and finished her elementary education there in 1975.
From 1976 to 1979, she attended Songea Girls Secondary School. She later studied electrical engineering at university. She earned degrees from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of Dar es Salaam.
Work Experience
Her first job was at Pugu Kaolin Mines Limited. She worked there as an electrical technician from 1983 to 1987.
Later, from 1992 to 2005, she was an Electrical Engineer at Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO). TANESCO is the main company that provides electricity in Tanzania. She helped with planning, building power lines, and managing operations.
Political Journey
Stella Martin Manyanya first became a Member of Parliament in 2005. She was elected under the CCM political party. During her first time in parliament, she worked on a committee that focused on Investment, Energy, and Minerals. She was also part of the National Executive Committee.
She was re-elected to parliament in 2010. In her second term, she led the parliamentary committee for Industry and Trade from 2010 to 2011. She also served on the committee for constitutional affairs and local government.
From 2011 to 2015, she also served as the Regional Commissioner for the Rukwa Region. This is a big leadership role in a specific area. She was also a member of the University Council for the University of Dar es Salaam.
In 2015, she was elected to parliament for the third time. That same year, she was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education, Technology and Vocational Training. She held this position until October 2017. After that, she became the Deputy Minister for Industries and Trade.
