Stephanie Cmar's Journey
Early Life and Learning
Stephanie Cmar started working in restaurants at age 15. Her first job was at the Muffin Shop in Marblehead, Massachusetts. She later went to Johnson & Wales University. Stephanie finished her studies there in 2007.
Becoming a Chef
Stephanie has worked in many different kitchens. She cooked at places like B&G Oysters and Stir. She also worked at No.9 Park, a famous restaurant by Barbara Lynch. At No.9 Park, Stephanie was a sous-chef, which is a head assistant chef.
In 2014, Stephanie started her own donut shop called Stacked Donuts. It was a "pop-up" shop, meaning it was open for a short time. She also had a catering business called Party of Two. She ran this with her friend Justin Burke-Samson. They even traveled across the US with Party of Two in 2014. From 2015 to 2016, Stephanie was the main chef at Fairsted Kitchen in Boston. After that, she decided to become a private chef again. This means she cooks for individual clients or families.
Competing on Top Chef
Stephanie Cmar is well-known for her appearances on Top Chef. This is a popular TV show where chefs compete.
Top Chef: Seattle and New Orleans
Stephanie first tried out for Top Chef: Seattle. Her good friend Kristen Kish, who later won the season, was also there. Stephanie did not get picked to join the main competition that time.
However, she was invited back for Top Chef: New Orleans. She did very well, placing seventh in the season.
Top Chef: All-Stars L.A.
Stephanie returned for Top Chef: All-Stars L.A.. Many people saw her as an "underdog," meaning someone not expected to win. But Stephanie surprised everyone! She made it all the way to the finals. In the end, she lost to another great chef, Melissa King.
After the Competition
After her time as a contestant, Stephanie continued to work with Top Chef. She was a guest judge on Top Chef Amateurs. She also helped behind the scenes as a culinary producer for Top Chef: World All-Stars.

Family and Home
Stephanie Cmar has two brothers, named Colton and Wyatt. She has shared that her family is very important to her. In 2020, Stephanie and her husband, David Cavilla, moved to Maine. They used to live in Boston.
