Stephen Scullion (born 9 November 1988) is an Irish long-distance runner. He is known for competing in events like the marathon, which is a very long race.
Early Life
Stephen Scullion was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. When he was younger, he attended Wellington College.
Stephen Scullion's Running Career
Stephen Scullion is a talented runner from Ireland. He was chosen to represent Northern Ireland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in 2010. He was supposed to run in the 1500m and 5000m races, but he couldn't compete because he got sick.
He later competed in the 3000 metres race at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2013. He also ran in the 10000 metres race at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in 2018.
Marathon Achievements
In 2019, Stephen ran in the Houston Marathon. He finished tenth, which was a personal best time for him. This was impressive because he even took a wrong turn during the race! A helpful person watching the race corrected him. Because of his performance, he qualified for the 2019 World Championships and also for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Later in 2019, Scullion finished second in the Dublin Marathon. In 2020, he placed eleventh in the 2020 London Marathon.
Stephen competed in the men's marathon at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Unfortunately, he did not finish that race.
He represented Northern Ireland again at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. There, he finished 10th in the men's marathon event.
