Steubenville is a small place in Indiana, United States, that doesn't have its own local government. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's part of a larger area called Steuben Township, which is located in Steuben County.

Steubenville's Past

Steubenville has an interesting history, even though it's a small community.

Early Days and County Seat

Back in 1841, people considered Steubenville to be the main town for Steuben County. This main town is often called the "county seat." However, another town was chosen instead.

Train Stops and Mail Service

For a short time, Steubenville was a stop for trains. This was important for travel and trade. Later, the train stop moved to a nearby town called Angola.

Steubenville also had its own post office. It opened in 1839, helping people send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years until it closed down in 1932.
