Steven Williams (born January 7, 1949) is an American actor. He has starred in many films and television shows. He is well known for playing Captain Adam Fuller on 21 Jump Street. He also played Lt. Jefferson Burnett on The Equalizer. Other famous roles include Det. August Brooks on L.A. Heat, X on The X-Files, and Rufus Turner in Supernatural.
Steven Williams has appeared in many movies. These include The Blues Brothers (1980) and Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). He was also in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) and 22 Jump Street (2014). More recently, he acted in It (2017) and Birds of Prey (2020).
He has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. He also received a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.

Steven Williams' Early Life
Steven Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up mostly in Chicago. His parents were divorced. He lived with his father in Michigan and his mother in Chicago. He also spent time with his grandparents in Millington, Tennessee.
In Chicago, he went to Wendell Phillips High School. After high school, he studied engineering at the General Motors Institute. Before becoming an actor, Williams worked as a mail carrier and a salesman. He also worked as a model.
He joined the United States Army. He served in Germany. While in the Army, he became a boxing champion. He won in the Middleweight Division for the United States Army Boxing Team. After leaving the Army, he worked as a mailman. He then worked selling clothes in Chicago.
Steven Williams' Acting Career
Steven Williams started his acting career in 1975. His first movie was Cooley High. In 1980, he played Trooper Mount in the musical comedy The Blues Brothers. In 1985, he became Lt. Jefferson Burnett on the TV show The Equalizer. He also played Captain David Nester in the 1985 film Missing in Action 2: The Beginning.
In 1987, Williams got a big role. He played Captain Adam Fuller on the TV series 21 Jump Street. He was a senior police officer who supervised younger cops. He stayed on the show until it ended in 1991. While on 21 Jump Street, he also acted in the movie Under the Gun (1988).
After 21 Jump Street, Williams played the main character in The 100 Lives of Black Jack Savage. In 1996, he became Det. August Brooks on the TV series L.A. Heat. He also had a recurring role as X on the popular science fiction show The X-Files. For his work as X, he was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award in 1997.
Williams played Russell "Linc" Lincoln, a bartender, in the comedy show Linc's. In 2000, he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for this role. He also played Isaac in the show Legacy.
From 2008 to 2016, he played Rufus Turner in the fantasy series Supernatural. He also played Quentin in the drama The Chi starting in 2018. Reviewers liked his performance as Quentin. In the 2010s and 2020s, Williams had several recurring roles. These include attorney Stephen Carlisle in Ambitions (2019) and teacher Joe Ridgeway in Locke & Key (2020).
Williams has also made many guest appearances on TV shows. He was an Army friend on MacGyver. He played Robin Dumars' father on Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Other shows he appeared in include The Dukes of Hazzard, The A-Team, Stargate SG-1, Martin, Veronica Mars, and Criminal Minds.
His other movie roles include a bar patron in Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). He was also the bounty hunter Creighton Duke in the horror film Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993). In TV movies, he played a boat captain named Mo in Dreams of Gold: The Mel Fisher Story (1986). He also played baseball player Satchel Paige in The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson (1990).

Steven Williams was married to talent agent Ann Geddes. He has two daughters. He also has six grandchildren. His oldest granddaughter is an artist. She works in Chicago and Los Angeles.
