Stitch Up! facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Stitch Up! was a fun CBBC TV show where people were pranked without knowing it! It was a "hidden camera" show, meaning cameras were secretly filming reactions. The show first aired in 2002 and was repeated until 2008. Most pranks happened in London and the South East of the UK. Some special episodes were even filmed in other countries!

About Stitch Up!

Stitch Up! was different from many other CBBC shows. It was made for older kids and teenagers, not just younger children. The people who hosted the show and the people who got pranked were mostly teenagers and adults. The music used in the show was also more grown-up, featuring bands like Oasis.

Memorable Pranks and Sketches

The show had many funny and surprising pranks. Here are some of the most well-known ones:

  • News Reporter Prank: An actress named Anne Foy pretended to be a news reader on TV screens in an electronics store. She would share embarrassing stories about a person shopping there, who would watch in shock!
  • Street Knights: Actors dressed in knight costumes and other strange outfits would fight and do weird things in busy streets. This often confused shoppers passing by.
  • Card Game Cheater: Calum Callaghan played a character who invited people to play card games at a train station. He would always accuse them of cheating, even if they didn't!
  • David Plain: Marvin Benoit played a street magician called 'David Plain'. This character was a funny copy of the famous magician David Blaine.
  • Remote Controlled Kid: Simon Kane played the 'Remote Controlled Kid' in all three series. He would go into shops and ask staff confusing and random questions.

The Big Stitch Up!

The very last prank in each episode was called the 'Big Stitch Up!'. These were usually the biggest and most surprising pranks.

  • One popular 'Big Stitch Up!' involved a boy who thought his bedroom was being made over by a TV show. When he came home from school, he found his room had been turned into a garden! It even had a garden gnome and a water feature.
  • Another prank involved a teenager working at a hair salon. They had a "day from hell" at work, with customers' hair catching fire and mirrors smashing.
  • After the prank was revealed, the person who was pranked would get a special Stitch Up! trophy.

Show Series and Specials

Stitch Up! ran for three series. The first two were in 2002, and the third was in 2004.

  • There was also a special episode for Halloween in 2004 called Spook Up!. This special is often shown again around Halloween time.
  • A single episode called 'Celebrity Stitch Up!' was also made.

Meet the Presenters

The show had a great team of presenters who helped create the pranks:

  • The original presenters included Marvin Benoit, Calum Callaghan, Anne Foy, and Simon Kane.
  • Later, for the 2004 series, new presenters joined the team: Adam Selkirk-Brown and Sita Thomas.
