The land at Stobhall has belonged to the Drummond family since the 1300s. This means they have owned it for over 700 years! Stobhall Castle was the main home for the Drummond family, who were also known as the Earls of Perth.

After the English Reformation, when England changed its official religion, the Drummond family remained strong Roman Catholics. They were known as recusants, meaning they refused to follow the new state religion. Stobhall Castle became an important place for Roman Catholicism in Scotland during that time.

Recent Changes at Stobhall
In 2012, some items from Stobhall house were sold at an auction. This auction took place at Bonhams in Edinburgh. The sale raised a lot of money, over £900,000.
The decision to sell these items came when James David Drummond, who is the heir to the Earl of Perth title, decided to move to London. He is the son of the 18th Earl of Perth.
