This means she still feels a strong connection to Ben, almost like he is her father. Because of this, her real parents feel like strangers to her.

As time goes on, Leia's mother, Marcy, starts to act very protective and controlling. She even makes Glen leave the house. Marcy keeps Leia inside and tries to control everything she does. In the end, Leia finds a way to escape this new kind of captivity. She decides she wants to live her own life and make her own choices.
