Stockings Flat, California facts for kids
Stockings Flat was once a small place where people lived in Nevada County, California. It was located near a stream called Deer Creek. This spot was about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east of another place called Newtown.
Stockings Flat was shown on maps as late as 1873. This means that by that year, it was still recognized as a settlement, even if it was small or had few people living there. Over time, many small settlements like Stockings Flat in California's history became empty or disappeared, often because people moved to bigger towns or the reasons they settled there (like mining) ended.
