Stockwell tube station is a busy London Underground station. It is located in an area called Stockwell, which is in the London Borough of Lambeth. This station is special because it connects two different Underground lines. It is also the only station on the Morden branch of the Northern line that lets you switch to another line. Stockwell station is in Travelcard Zone 2.

Stockwell station is served by two important Underground lines:
- The Northern line: On this line, Stockwell is between Clapham North and Oval.

A Bit of History
Stockwell station first opened a long time ago, in 1890. It was part of one of the very first deep-level underground railways. When it first opened, it was the end of the line. Later, in 1900, the line was extended, and Stockwell became a station that trains passed through. The Victoria Line platforms were added much later, in 1971, making it the important interchange station it is today.
