Grassland at Stoneyfields Park

Stoneyfields Park is a lovely three-hectare public park located in The Hale, which is part of the London Borough of Barnet. It's a great place for families and nature lovers to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

What You'll Find at Stoneyfields Park

This park is mostly made up of open grassy areas, perfect for playing or relaxing. It also has a small, ancient wood and some old hedgerows. For younger visitors, there are two fun play areas.

The Lake and Deans Brook

A stream called Deans Brook flows through the park. It has been carefully dammed to create a beautiful ornamental lake. This lake is surrounded by tall plants like great and lesser reedmace.

Amazing Wildlife

The lake at Stoneyfields Park is home to many different animals. You can often spot Coots, moorhens, and mallard ducks swimming and raising their young here. The lake also supports small creatures like amphibians (like frogs and newts) and colourful dragonflies.

The park's woodland is very old, with ancient oak trees and hazel bushes. You can even find special plants like wood-sedge, which tells us the wood has been there for a very long time. Some parts of the grassland are full of beautiful wild flowers, such as the cuckooflower.
