Stoneywood Parkvale Football Club is a Scottish football team from the Stoneywood area of Aberdeen. They are part of the Scottish Junior Football Association, North Region. The club was created in 2016 when two older clubs, F.C. Stoneywood and Parkvale, joined together.

Club History: How Stoneywood Parkvale Began

Stoneywood Parkvale Football Club was formed in 2016. This happened when two local football clubs, F.C. Stoneywood and Parkvale, decided to merge. This merger brought together their histories and players.

F.C. Stoneywood: The Early Years

F.C. Stoneywood started in 1981. It was formed after an even older club, Stoneywood Works F.C. (founded in 1924), merged with a team called F.C. Woodacon. F.C. Woodacon had won the Scottish Juvenile Cup in 1980, which was a big achievement.

In 2014, F.C. Stoneywood moved to a new ground at Market Street. Before that, they played at Polo Park. In their last season, 2015–16, the club finished at the bottom of the North Superleague.

During its 34 years, F.C. Stoneywood won many trophies:

  • North Regional Cup: 1991–92, 1994–95, 1998–99, 2009–10
  • North East Premier Division winners: 1984–85, 1990–91, 1991–92, 1994–95
  • North East Division One winners: 1981–82
  • Archibald Cup: 1990–91, 1992–93, 1996–97, 2000–01
  • McLeman Cup: 1982–83, 1983–84, 1993–94
  • Duthie (Acorn Heating) Cup: 1981–82, 1986–87, 1997–98

Parkvale F.C.: A Long History

Parkvale F.C. was founded much earlier, in 1898. They started playing in the Kittybrewster area of Aberdeen at a place called Central Park. Later, they moved to Linksfield Stadium. They shared this stadium with other junior teams, Lewis United and Mugiemoss.

In 1994, Parkvale moved again to Findon Park. This was because the Linksfield Stadium was being redeveloped. Findon Park is located outside Portlethen, south of Aberdeen. The Parkvale F.C. Supporters Social Club is still located in Aberdeen city centre. In their final season (2015–16), Parkvale finished 6th in the North First Division (East).

Parkvale also won many awards during its long history:

  • North East Premier Division winners: 1973–74
  • Aberdeen & District Junior League winners: 1908–09, 1950–51
  • North East Division One winners: 1982–83
  • North Region Division One winners: 2004–05
  • North Region Division Two winners: 2010–11
  • Archibald Cup: 1926–27, 1935–36
  • Duthie (Acorn Heating) Cup: 1911–12, 1978–79
  • McLeman Cup: 1920–21, 1964–65, 1973–74, 1979–80
  • Morrison Trophy: 1972–73, 1973–74, 1976–77, 1982–83, 1983–84
  • Aberdeen & District Junior League Cup: 1933–34
  • Aberdeen County Trophy: 1910–11, 1911–12

The Merger: Creating Stoneywood Parkvale

The decision to merge was announced in May 2016. The new club, Stoneywood Parkvale, started playing at Stoneywood's New Polo Park ground from the 2016–17 season. Since May 2018, the team has been managed by Ian Davidson, who used to manage Lewis United.

The club achieved a notable success in the 2019–20 Scottish Junior Cup. They reached the last 16 teams in the competition.
