Suhita or Soheeta was a powerful queen who ruled the Majapahit empire in Java. She was the sixth ruler of this important kingdom. Queen Suhita reigned from 1429 to 1447.
She was the daughter of Wikramawardhana, who was the ruler before her. Her mother was a princess from the Wirabhumi family. Suhita became queen after her father passed away. Later, her brother, Kertawijaya, took over the throne.
Queen Suhita's Reign
Queen Suhita's time as ruler is linked to a famous Javanese story. This story is called the Damarwulan legend. In the legend, there is a brave maiden queen. During Suhita's actual reign, there was a war with the region of Blambangan. This war is similar to events in the Damarwulan legend.
Royal Art and Statues
A special statue was found in Tulungagung Regency. This area is in East Java. Some experts believe this statue shows Queen Suhita. The statue shows her wearing royal clothes. These include fancy ear pendants, necklaces, and bracelets. She also wears anklets and pendants on her belts.
In her right hand, the statue holds a lotus bud. A lotus bud was a symbol for royalty who had passed away. It meant they were changing into something new. This statue helps us imagine how Queen Suhita might have looked.
