Rajasa dynasty facts for kids
The Rajasa dynasty was a powerful family that ruled two important kingdoms in eastern Java (an island in Indonesia) a long time ago. They were in charge of the Singhasari kingdom and later the Majapahit kingdom, from the 1200s to the 1400s.
The story of the Rajasa dynasty starts with a person named Śrī Ranggah Rājasa. He founded this ruling family in the early 1200s. According to an old book called Pararaton, Ranggah Rājasa was born in a town called Tumapel. This town is now known as Malang in East Java. He is seen as the person who started both the Singhasari and Majapahit lines of kings and queens.
The word rājasa comes from an old language called Sanskrit and also from Old Javanese. It can mean "passion" or "dust"/"soil."
