A Look at Sullivan City's History
Sullivan City got its name from Captain Ed Sullivan. He was a veteran of a World War and owned a ranch in the area. The town officially started in 1908. Just a few years later, in 1911, it became an "incorporated" town. This means it officially formed its own local government, with Sam Hargrove as its first mayor. A famous person named William Jennings Bryan bought land here in 1910. He helped the town grow by opening a store and a gas station.
