Summerhill is a British TV show made for children. It's a drama about a real and very unique school called Summerhill School. This school is famous for letting its students make many of the rules!
The show was written by Alison Hume and directed by Jon East. It first aired on the CBBC Channel in January 2008. Summerhill was very popular and was nominated for three children's BAFTA awards. It won awards for its writer, Alison Hume, and for the new talent of actor Eliot Otis Brown Walters. The show helped start the careers of several young actors. These include Jessie Cave, who later played Lavender Brown in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Other actors who became well-known are Olly Alexander, Eliot Otis Brown Walters, and Holly Bodimeade.
The series also aired on BBC One. A longer movie version was shown on BBC Four.

She can't believe it's a school where you don't have to go to lessons! You're encouraged to play, make your own rules, and even climb trees. 14-year-old Ryan is also sent to Summerhill because other schools couldn't handle his behavior. He thinks he's found paradise.
