Supastition is an American hip hop artist. He comes from Greenville, North Carolina. His real name is Kamaarphial Moye. He has also used the names Kam Moye and Blackmel. Supastition is known for his honest lyrics and unique style. He has worked with many famous artists. These include KRS-One, The RZA, and Tech N9ne.

Starting His Music Journey

Supastition first recorded music as Blackmel. Later, he changed his artist name to Supastition. He chose this name because many people did not believe in his music at first. He felt he had to prove himself. He said, "The name Supastition came from the fact that people didn't believe in me."

He later signed a deal with a record label called Pockets Linted Entertainment. This led to his first vinyl release. It featured two songs, "Broke Man's Anthem" and "Battle Cry." Supastition produced both of these songs himself.

His First Album: 7 Years of Bad Luck

In 2002, Supastition released his first album. It was called 7 Years of Bad Luck. A music video was made for his song "da Waiting Period." This song was about the struggles of an artist trying to make it.

Critics liked the honest lyrics on the album. However, some felt the music's production was not as good. Supastition himself was not happy with the album. He said he was not allowed to choose his own beats. This caused problems with the record label, Freshchest Records. Supastition stopped promoting the album because of this.

Gaining National Attention

In 2004, Supastition started to get more attention. His song "The Williams" was chosen for a special music collection. This collection was put together by Okayplayer Records. It was a big deal because his song was picked from 5,000 entries.

Later that year, he signed with Soulspazm Records. He released two important projects with them. These were The Deadline and Chain Letters. These albums featured music from famous producers. They also included guest artists like Little Brother.

Touring and Challenges

These releases brought him a lot of praise. Music magazines like XXL and The Source wrote good reviews. This success allowed him to tour in over 12 countries. He traveled a lot in just two years.

However, his record distributor suddenly closed down. This left many artists and labels in a difficult spot. Supastition then decided to leave Soulspazm Records. He did not want to work with Rawkus Records, who were taking over.

Changing His Name to Kam Moye

After a car accident, Supastition felt inspired to make more positive music. He decided to use a shorter version of his real name, Kam Moye. On June 17, 2008, he released an EP called Self-Centered under this new name.

He released a music video for his song "Black Enough?". This video talked about racial issues. It got a lot of attention online. In 2009, Kam Moye joined Hall of Justus Music Group. He also signed with MYX Music label. This label was part of a TV channel called MYX TV.

Splitting Image and a Break from Music

His first album as Kam Moye was Splitting Image. It came out on October 27, 2009. The album got mixed reviews from fans. Some missed his older, harder sound. The song "Let's Be Honest" was played on MTVu.

In May 2010, the MYX Music Label stopped its operations in the U.S. This led Kam Moye to announce he was leaving the music industry. He was frustrated with the challenges of the business.

Returning to Music

However, in late 2012, he decided to return to music. He started releasing music again as Supastition. In early 2013, he released The Blackboard EP.

On February 18, 2014, Supastition released another EP. It was called Honest Living. All the songs on this EP were produced by Croup.

Working with Other Artists

Supastition has worked with many artists. He has appeared on over 40 songs with different musicians. Some of his most famous collaborations include:

He was also part of a music group called Wax Reform. This group included producers like M-Phazes and Illmind. Supastition says his music was inspired by older hip hop artists. These include Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and Chuck D.
