Susan Cox has held many important jobs representing Australia. On 28 September 2012, she was chosen to be the new Australian ambassador to Croatia. An ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomat representing their country in another nation. She officially started her job on 14 December 2012, when she gave her special documents, called credentials, to the Croatian President, Ivo Josipović.
Where Else Has She Worked?
Before her time in Croatia, Susan Cox worked in several other countries. She was an Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia. She also served as the Deputy High Commissioner in Vanuatu. A High Commissioner is like an ambassador, but for countries within the Commonwealth of Nations. She was also an Australian Vice Consul in New Caledonia. A Vice Consul helps Australian citizens who are traveling or living abroad.
Her Work in Australia
Susan Cox has also held important jobs within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia. She was the Director of Passport Communication and Training. She also led the Post Security Taskforce, which works to keep Australian embassies and staff safe overseas. Another role was Director of the Consular Policy and Crisis Management Section. This team helps Australians who are in trouble or facing emergencies in other countries.

Susan Cox studied at the University of Canberra, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration. She is also working on another advanced degree, an Executive Masters in Public Administration, at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.
She received a special award called the Order of Australia Medal. This award recognized her important work in helping people after the events in Bali in 2002.
