Susan Flannery (born July 31, 1939) is an American actress and director. She is famous for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. She started acting in 1963 and continued until 2018.
Susan Flannery first became well-known for playing Laura Horton on the TV soap opera Days of Our Lives from 1966 to 1975. For this role, she won her first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She also won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actress for her role in the 1974 movie The Towering Inferno.
Later, she starred as Stephanie Forrester on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 to 2012. This role made her famous around the world. She won three more Daytime Emmy Awards for this part. Besides acting, Susan Flannery also worked as a director for several TV shows.

Early Life
Susan Flannery was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on July 31, 1939. She went to school in Manhattan, New York. In 1962, she earned her college degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
Acting Career
Susan Flannery began her acting career on television in 1963 with a small part in the show Burke's Law. The next year, she appeared in her first movie, a Western called Guns of Diablo. She also made guest appearances on other TV shows like Death Valley Days and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
In 1966, Susan got a big role as Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. She played this character for nine years, until 1975. In her last year on the show, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for being the best lead actress in a drama series.
In 1974, Susan Flannery acted in the disaster movie The Towering Inferno. This movie was very popular and made a lot of money. Her performance in the film earned her a Golden Globe Award. The next year, she was in the comedy movie The Gumball Rally. She also starred in the TV miniseries The Moneychangers, which earned her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. In 1981, she joined the cast of the prime-time soap opera Dallas for 11 episodes.
Susan Flannery became most famous for her role as Stephanie Douglas Forrester on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She was one of the first actors on the show when it started in 1987. She played Stephanie for 25 years, until 2012. For this role, she was nominated for nine Daytime Emmy Awards and won three times (in 2000, 2002, and 2003).
Besides acting, Susan Flannery also directed many episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful. She was nominated twice for a Directors Guild of America Award for her directing work. In her final storyline on the show, her character Stephanie Forrester passed away from lung cancer.
After leaving The Bold and the Beautiful, Susan Flannery continued to direct. She directed 36 episodes of Venice: The Series between 2010 and 2014, and an episode of The Fosters in 2017.
