Susan Irene Rotroff is an American archaeologist and expert in Ancient Greece. She studies the art, old buildings, and pottery from that time. She was a special professor at Washington University in St. Louis.

Early Life and Learning
Susan Rotroff went to Bryn Mawr College for her first college degree. After that, she spent a year studying at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens in Greece. She then earned her PhD from Princeton University in 1976. A PhD is a very high degree you can get after many years of study.
Her Work as a Professor
In 1995, Susan Rotroff started teaching at Washington University in St. Louis. She taught students about the ancient world.
Special Awards and Honors
Susan Rotroff has received many important awards for her work.
- In 1988, she won a fellowship from the MacArthur Fellows Program. This is a special award given to very talented people.
- In 2011, she received the Gold Medal from the Archaeological Institute of America. This is one of the highest honors for an archaeologist.
