Before becoming a full-time author, Susan Patron worked as a librarian. She started at the Los Angeles Public Library in 1972. She helped choose which books the library would buy for children. She retired from her library job in March 2007.

Susan Patron wrote several books that children loved to read. Her first book for kids was called Burgoo Stew, and it was published in 1990.

The Lucky Series
