Swiftown is about 7 miles (11 km) south of Morgan City. It is also about 10 miles (16 km) north of Belzoni. You can find it along Mississippi Highway 7. Swiftown is part of the larger Greenwood area. The special mail code for Swiftown is 38959.
Swiftown's History
Swiftown was once located along a railroad line called the Columbus and Greenville Railroad. This railroad helped connect different places.
The community had a post office that first opened in 1886. Back then, it was known as Ezra. In 1911, the post office changed its name to Swiftown. It kept helping people send mail until it closed in 2011.
