Sylvania is a small, unincorporated community located in Parke County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Being "unincorporated" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It is part of Liberty Township.
Sylvania's Past
Sylvania began a long time ago, in the year 1836. This was when the community was first established.
A post office, which helps people send and receive mail, opened in Sylvania in 1850. It served the community for many years. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1905.
