Sylvanite is located in the beautiful Kootenai National Forest. This forest is in the northwestern part of Lincoln County. The community sits in the valley of the Yaak River. This river flows south and eventually joins the Kootenai River.
You can reach Sylvanite by following Yaak River Road. This road is also called National Forest Road 92. If you drive south for about 11 miles, you will reach U.S. Route 2. If you head northeast (upriver) for about 17 miles, you will get to Yaak.
