Sylvester Hicks (born April 2, 1955) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). He played for four seasons, from 1978 to 1981.
Sylvester Hicks' Football Journey
Sylvester Hicks was born in Jackson, Tennessee. He loved football from a young age. He played high school football at North Side High School. After high school, he went on to play college football at Tennessee State University.
Joining the NFL
In 1978, Sylvester Hicks was chosen in the 1978 NFL draft. The NFL draft is an event where professional football teams pick new players from colleges. He was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round. He was the 29th player chosen overall that year.
Playing for the Chiefs
As a defensive end, Sylvester Hicks' job was to stop the other team's offense. This often meant trying to tackle the opposing team's quarterback or running back.
