Sylvia Anjel Santana (born November 23, 1979) is an American politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Currently, she serves in the Michigan Senate, representing the 2nd district. Before this, she represented the 3rd district from 2019 to 2022. She also served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019.

Sylvia Santana's Early Life and School
Sylvia Santana was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She went to Eastern Michigan University. There, she studied finance and was part of the Finance Club. She earned her bachelor's degree in business in 2007. Later, in 2022, she received her master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University.
Sylvia Santana's Career Before Politics
Before she started working in the Michigan legislature, Sylvia Santana spent over 15 years in the finance world. She worked for different companies. These included ProsperUS Detroit/Southwest Economic Solutions, Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services, Inc., and Quicken Loans.

Serving in the House of Representatives
Sylvia Santana served one term in the Michigan House of Representatives. She represented the 9th district, which included parts of Detroit and Dearborn at that time. In this role, she was part of the CARES Task Force. This group studied mental health issues in Michigan. She also worked on committees for the Department of Health and Human Services, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, and Corrections.
Serving in the Senate
Sylvia Santana is now in her second term in the Michigan Senate. She was first elected to the Senate in 2018. In 2020, she was named the MIRS News Democratic Legislator of the Year. This award recognized her work as a Democratic lawmaker.
Sylvia Santana's Family and Community Work
Sylvia Santana married Harvey Santana, who is also a Michigan legislator, in 2003. They met during her first year of college at Eastern Michigan University. They live in Warrendale with their three children: Sofia, Olivia, and Samuel. She is Catholic.
Sylvia Santana has been involved in many community projects and groups. She helped create a neighborhood block club. She also served as the finance director and later as president of the Warrendale Community Organization.
