Sylvie Paycha was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, on March 27, 1960. She is a French mathematician and a mathematical physicist. This means she studies math and how it applies to physics. She works as a professor at the University of Potsdam in Germany.

Sylvie Paycha studied hard to become a mathematician. She earned her PhD degree in 1988. She completed her studies at the University of Bochum in Germany. Her main teacher and guide for her PhD was Sergio Albeverio.
