Sébastien Ives Bordeleau was born on February 15, 1975. He is a former professional ice hockey player. Sébastien was born in Canada but also played for France. He was a forward and played in the National Hockey League (NHL). His father, Paulin Bordeleau, was also an NHL player.

Sébastien's Hockey Journey
Early Life and Junior Hockey
Sébastien was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His father, Paulin, played for the Vancouver Canucks at the time. Sébastien spent some of his childhood growing up in France. This was because his father played professional hockey there. As a young player, Sébastien even played in the 1987 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from France.
Later, he returned to Canada. He played four years for the Hull Olympiques. This team is part of the QMJHL. In 1993, the Montreal Canadiens picked him in the NHL Entry Draft. He was the 73rd player chosen overall. Sébastien continued to play for his junior team to get even better. His best year in junior hockey was 1994–95. He scored an amazing 52 goals that season!
Playing in the NHL
Sébastien started his professional career in 1995. For his first three seasons, he played some games with the Montreal Canadiens. He also spent time with their minor league team, the Fredericton Canadiens.
In 1998, Sébastien joined a new team, the Nashville Predators. This was an expansion team, meaning it was brand new to the NHL. He had a great first year with them. He scored 16 goals and helped the team with 40 points. He was also one of their best players at stopping opponents from scoring. He continued to play a similar role the next season.
Later, Sébastien played for the Minnesota Wild and the Phoenix Coyotes. He spent some time with their minor league teams too. After playing for seven years in North America, Sébastien decided to play hockey overseas.
Playing in Switzerland
In 2002, Sébastien moved to Switzerland. He started playing for SC Bern in the Swiss National League. He played many successful seasons there. He was a key player for SC Bern for several years. Later in his career, he also played for EHC Biel in Switzerland. He finished his professional hockey career in 2012.
Representing France
Sébastien Bordeleau also played for the French national team. He represented France in the World Championships. He played in the 2004 tournament in the Czech Republic. He also played in the 2008 tournament in Canada.
Hockey Family
Hockey runs in the Bordeleau family! Sébastien's father, Paulin Bordeleau, played in the NHL. And Sébastien's son, Thomas Bordeleau, is also a professional hockey player. Thomas currently plays for the San Jose Sharks.
