Töss is a district in the city of Winterthur, Switzerland. It is known as district number 4. The district gets its name from the Töss River, which flows right through it.
Töss is made up of four smaller areas called quarters. These are Schlosstal, Dättnau, Eichliacker, and Rossberg.
Long ago, in the Middle Ages, Töss was famous for its nunnery. A nunnery is a place where nuns live and pray. Two important nuns lived there: Elizabeth of Hungary and Elsbeth Stagel. Elsbeth Stagel wrote about what life was like for the nuns in the monastery.
Töss used to be its own town. But in 1922, it became part of Winterthur.

Elizabeth of Töss: A Royal Nun
Blessed Elizabeth of Töss was born in 1292 and passed away around 1336 or 1338. She was a princess from Hungary. Elizabeth was also the very last member of a royal family called the House of Árpád. She chose to become a Dominican nun and lived in the Töss nunnery.
Georges Miez: An Olympic Champion
Georges Miez was a Swiss gymnast. He was born in 1904 and lived until 1999. Georges was an amazing athlete who competed in the Summer Olympics four times. He went to the Olympics in 1924, 1928, 1932, and 1936. During his career, he won a total of eight Olympic medals. This included four gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.
