Tŷ Nant is a popular brand of mineral water that comes from a special source in Bethania, Ceredigion, Wales. The name "Tŷ Nant" is from the Welsh language and means "House by the stream."

The Story of Tŷ Nant Water
How the Water Was Found
The amazing Tŷ Nant water source was first found in 1976. It was discovered by a "water diviner," which is someone who uses special tools, like a forked stick, to find underground water. After the water was located, a deep hole, called a borehole, was dug. This hole went through about 100 feet of rock and clay to reach an underground pool of water, known as an aquifer. This water was perfect for drinking!
Building the Bottling Plant
In December 1996, Tŷ Nant built a big new factory to bottle their water. This factory was 45,000 square feet, which is about the size of a football field! It helped them bottle five times more water than before. The factory was built right above the original spot where the water was first found in 1976.
Recent Changes
In July 2025, Tŷ Nant bought another water company called Strathmore Water from A.G. Barr. This means Tŷ Nant now owns even more water brands!
Tŷ Nant's Bottles and Products
Unique Bottle Designs
Tŷ Nant is famous for its cool bottle designs. In 1989, they launched their first glass bottles, which were a beautiful cobalt blue color. Cobalt blue is a deep, bright blue, almost like the color of a sapphire. These bottles even won an award for their great design!
To celebrate their 10th anniversary in 1999, Tŷ Nant made a special bottle called "Tŷ Nant Too." This bottle was a bright crimson red.
New Bottle Types
In 2001, Tŷ Nant started using PET bottles. PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, which is a type of plastic that is light and recyclable. This made their water easier to carry and more eco-friendly.
TAU Spring Water
In 2003, Tŷ Nant also launched a new product called TAU spring water. This water also came in a bottle with a special design that won an award.
Who Owns Tŷ Nant Now?
In 1992, Tŷ Nant was bought by an Italian company called Biscaldi Luigi Import Export Srl. This company used to distribute Tŷ Nant water, meaning they helped sell it in Italy. Now, they own the whole Tŷ Nant brand!
